I was born in LA in the Summer of Love. My mother is French and my father is American. They spoke only French to me when I was a baby and I am therefore bilingual, for which I thank them regularly and often. My father is among other things, a psychiatrist, but he did not secretly bring me and my two brothers up as Fruedian experiments. If he had, we would have turned it right back on him. My mother, among other things, is an interior designer, and when she buys me clothes for my birthday, they are actually clothes I am pleased to wear. I live within easy distance from them and we are fortunate in that we actually really enjoy each others company. Alas, my brothers are now both on the West Coast, so I don’t get to see them as often, but I love them dearly and enjoy their company when I do.
I grew up in the northern suburbs of NYC, at a time when kids were still allowed to run around by themselves trick or treating on Halloween. I graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in creative writing. I have followed the Grateful Dead, I have worked as manager of the children’s section at a Barnes and Noble, and I have been to Burning Man three times. In 2002 I completed a 2 year certificate program at Columbia for ‘E-Commerce Programming’. I currently work for a large financial firm as a software engineer, and I enjoy the work and the people. I have lived in NYC for close to 16 years and consider myself to be a natural New Yorker. I live in a loft space in an un-renovated warehouse in Brooklyn, from which I took the header photo of this blog.
